Artist Statement

Eliza Bourner is a British photographer living and working in London.

Exploring the mundane, my work plays with the tension between comfort and restriction. Driven by a contemporary fixation of productivity, the ordinary is less and less desirable in western society; where if you work hard enough you can seemingly achieve anything. Using nostalgia and a cinematic feel, I create a world evoking feelings of emptiness and alienation in this 'Age of anxiety'.
